Overmolding Injection Molding Process

Innovation News

Overmolding is often called two-shot injection molding since it consists of molding of one material over other(s) forming a multilayer part. The process involves injecting resin into a mold (substrate) to solidify, then using a second injection unit to apply resin over the already-hardened layer. Common applications include parts with rubber handles where rubber is injected over plastic substrates.
